The cliché is vox populi vox dei ( the voice of the people is the voice of God).Another concomitant is salus populi suprema lex ( the welfare of the people is the supreme law ).The world, especially the USA, has just been rid of a narcistic and ridiculous creature that passes for the president of the largest democracy in the world.Trump has clearly incited his violent supremacist mob against the whole American people ,leading to the death of four innocent persons, one of them a woman, in the Capitol. Congress members were seen ducking for cover ,hiding under chairs and tables. There was said to have been forced evacuation after pipe bombs were discovered in nearby buildings. Several White House staff immediately resigned from office. This insurrection , coming 3 years, 11 months and 17 days after Trump had warned from the West Front of the US Capitol, “American carnage stops right here”, the very spot was enmeshed by his sponsored protesters, bringing bloody carnage to the very Americans that elected him as president in 2017 ,through the electoral college vote, though losing the popular vote to Hilary Clinton. It was a clear case of attempted coup in the biggest democracy in the world. It is so shameful to see some deranged pro-Trump elements climbing up the sacred Capitol like apes and monkeys , breaking up windows, doors and offices, to attempt overthrowing the people and their will , through a clear case of attempted coup de’tat and acts of terrorism. Trump had encouraged the insurrection hours before hand. He also refused to condemn it. It took president-elect, Joe Biden, and pleadings from aides and congressional allies, to nudge him to call his hired mob to order. Trump in his message to shell-shocked Americans ,praised the mob who had broken into the sacred precincts of the Capitol, posing for photographs, vandalising and stealing items from the rooms , thus, ” we love you. You are very special “.This riotous insurrection must be the lowest and darkest hour in US history since the bloody civil war between 1861-1865,which was fought between the northern states loyal to the Union and southern states that had seceded to form the Confederate States of America. It is all so disgusting, seeing democracy in America, midwifed and nurtured since 1776, so brazenly assaulted and demystified.

The Trump rioters not only attacked the Capitol building ; they actually attacked and desecrated the American Constitution, electoral process and democratic norms. America was humiliated and reduced to a banana Republic in an unprecedented state of nadir , shame, obloquy and odium. The world is bewildered. Trump lost the popular vote. Biden hauled in 81,283,098 votes (51.3 percent), while Trump took 74,222,958 votes (46.8 percent).

Biden had more votes than any other presidential candidate in American history. More than 140 million people voted. Thus, Biden defeated Trump, a sitting president, by 7,060,104 votes, votes more than the population of many countries in the world. Trump also lost the electoral College vote by 232 to 306.He lost through various courts across USA, including the Supreme Court. He lost through the Congress comprising of the Senate ( presided over by his Vice, Mr Mike Pence), and the House of Representatives. Yet, he claims and maintains, falsely ,living in an imaginary make-belief world of grandeur of delusion, that he won the November 2020 election. Can responsible Americans tell Trump to wake up from his deep slumber and stop humiliating America any further! How will George Washington, who stood on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall Street in New York to take his oath of office as the first American president on April 30,1789, feel now in his cold grave?

Washington had written to James Madison thus : ” As the first of everything, in our situation will serve to establish a precedent. It is devoutly wished on my part, that these precedents may be fixed on true principles “. Were these violent non democratic acts by fully armed pro- Trump madness and attempted coup on democracy and the American people, the principles and precedents Washington glowingly established ? Some Trump cabinet members and his allies are already considering invoking section 4 of the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution to remove Trump from office through impeachment. It says the Vice President can act in place of the president if the president is unable to do his job. This can happen for just a little while, if the president is just sick or disabled for a short time. Surely, President Donald Trump has shown the world that he is clearly sick and disabled. Most Americans and most people in the world can’t wait to see the back of Trump even before the expiration of his presidency of debauchery, lies and narcissism in just 13 days from today. Said Rep Ilhan Omar, Democrat, Minnesota, tweeted, ” we can’t allow him to remain in office. It’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfil our oath “. My greatest concern is the emboldening that African tyrants and sit-tight despots will draw from this Trumpian infamy. They will gloat thus, when they repress and oppress their people, “after all ,Trump did worse in the supposed greatest democracy in the world “. I shudder.
