Biography
Dr. Okey James Ezugwu served as an Assistant Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), where he gained extensive expertise in migration management, border control, and international relations. His academic background spans History, Law, and Political Science, culminating in a Ph.D. in International Relations. Following his retirement, he transitioned into legal practice and currently holds the position of Senior Associate at Mike Ozekhome LP.
He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Asylum and Refugee Rights Advocacy Foundation (ARRA), an organisation dedicated to protecting the rights of migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. In 2024, he delivered a presentation at the Nigerian Immigration Lawyers Association (NILA) Conference, and in February 2025, he advocated for comprehensive reforms to the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).
